Do you open the kitchen drawer and always end up moving five things to find one? Before buying new dividers, you can improve its organization with what you already have.
1. Empty just one drawer
Do it one at a time. Place the contents on a clean surface and separate what you actually use from what is duplicated or does not belong in that drawer.
2. Group by task
Prepare simple groups: cutlery, cooking utensils, bottle openers, and small accessories. Keeping things you use for the same task together makes them easier to find.
3. Measure the usable space
Check the width, depth, and interior height. Take into account the opening range and the longest objects before choosing containers or dividers.
4. Use boxes you already have
A small, clean, dry, and stable box can be used to separate non-cutting objects. Check that it fits, does not slide, and does not interfere with the closing. Sharp or cutting utensils need to be stored safely.
5. Place what you use daily at the front
Leave frequently used utensils near the front and reserve the back for occasional use. Do not fill every gap: it will be easier to return things to their place.
6. Test the layout for one week
If something forces you to continuously move other objects, change its position. The best organization is the one that works for your routine, not the one that looks perfect only in a photo.
