How to store blankets and bedding in a small closet

Do blankets and duvets take up too much closet space? Before buying new storage bags, a quick review of your textiles and the available sizes can help you get better organized.

1. Separate by frequency of use

Keep sheets and pillowcases you use regularly within easy reach. Place blankets and textiles that you only use in another season on the less accessible shelves, provided you can safely retrieve them.

2. Store everything clean and completely dry

Wash the items according to their labels and make sure no moisture remains between the folds. A closed bag cannot compensate for improper drying. If you have used a dryer, let the garments cool and check if they need to be aired out.

3. Measure the usable space in the cabinet

Measure the interior width, depth, and height. Remember to account for the hinges and the space needed to open the doors and remove the bag comfortably. Also estimate the approximate volume of the blankets once folded.

4. Choose a bag that suits your needs

A foldable bag for clothes and bed linen can be used to group textiles. Check the dimensions and features of the variant shown on the product page.

5. Label each group

Write clear, easy-to-identify labels, such as “winter blankets,” “single sheets,” or “spare pillowcases.” If a bag is not transparent, place the label on the front so you do not have to open it every time.

6. Avoid areas prone to condensation

The closet should be kept dry and in good condition. Periodically check for moisture and address the cause if any appears. Do not place textiles on damaged areas or hide leaks behind boxes or bags.

7. Reuse what you already have

Often, simply reorganizing the shelves, folding items into packages of similar size, or reusing suitable pillowcases you already have at home is enough. Only buy an accessory if it solves a specific need and fits in the available space.

Checklist for the next change of season

  • The textiles are clean and completely dry.
  • I have measured the shelf or space where I will store them.
  • The bag or box is not overly compressed.
  • Each group is labeled and I can access it.
  • I have reviewed the product details and the delivery options that Shopify shows for my order.
